3 Tips to Improve Your Worship Planning

Jake Gosselin from ChurchFront shares his top 3 tips to help you lead your band with confidence and avoid mistakes during worship services.

  • Provide accurate chord charts and MP3s for your worship band to practice with. Avoid using inaccurate CCLI charts or random websites. Use reputable sources like worshiptogether.com and praisecharts.com.
  • Prepare what you want to say or pray during the worship service. Identify 1-2 spots where you can share a prayer, scripture, or word of encouragement. Writing it down helps, especially if you’re a new worship leader.
  • Have a pre-service huddle 30 mins before to walk through the order of service. This allows the team to be on the same page and avoid mistakes. You can also pray together and do a cheer to get pumped up.
  • Gosselin offers a free 3-part worship leader training video series. It covers planning, common mistakes to avoid, and essential tools/software for modern worship leaders. He also provides a free worship planning checklist.
